I was all about revisiting the 1960s TV series “Lost in Space” until the movie arrived in 1998, and then I was all about letting go of “Lost in Space.”

But maybe Netflix will justify its forthcoming foray into the world of the space family Robinson with the help of a twist: Actress Parker Posey will star as the scheming Dr. Smith. In the original series, Smith (“Oh the pain!”) was played as a blithering coward by Jonathan Harris, who gradually — to the chagrin of Guy Williams, who played John Robinson — became the star of the show. Reportedly, Posey’s Smith will be more charismatic and manipulative.

Netflix has just given the first 10-episode reboot a premiere date of April 13. The story will be set 30 years in the future; the original series was set in a then-futuristic 1997. The Robinson family sets out to colonize another planet, but there are a few bumps along the way, including a pair of stowaways. Toby Stephens (“Black Sails”) plays John Robinson, Molly Parker (“Deadwood”) plays Maureen Robinson, and Max Jenkins (“Sense8”) plays Will Robinson, who will, no doubt, be in danger.
