It’s an age-old truth in Hollywood that an actor’s face is his signature moneymaker, and Tom Cruise is going head-to-head — literally — with the undead to protect his in the new preview for Universal’s upcoming adventure film The Mummy.

As established in previous trailers, Cruise plays Nick Morton, a man both cursed by and in pursuit of a Princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella), an ancient, nefarious princess wreaking havoc on modern day civilization after being awakened from her crypt in the Egyptian desert.

After a few harrowing international encounters with the villainess  — including a particularly thrilling sequence involving the destruction of a patch of urban scenery in London — the fresh sneak peek, released Thursday by the studio, teases a comical car chase scene, which sees a grimy humanoid figure clawing at Cruise’s visage while his cohort, played by Annabelle Wallis, tries to kick the monster off of Cruise’s Nick.

“That’s my face! That’s my face!” Cruise screams. The car then tumbles down an embankment, nearly crushing him, though he escapes relatively unscathed.

Dropping almost a decade after the last series installment, the Universal reboot of the classic film franchise that was initially fronted by Boris Karloff in 1932 (and later by Brendan Fraser across three films between 1999 and 2008) also stars Russell Crowe, Courtney B. Vance, Annabelle Wallis, and Jake Johnson. Now You See Me and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 producer Alex Kurtzman directed.

The mysteries of The Mummy unravel in theaters June 9. Watch the film’s new trailer above.
