Bob Dylan Debuts James Brown Cover In Augusta

Just one night after busting out “Moon River” in Savannah, Bob Dylan had another surprise in store for fans. Dylan led his band through a debut cover of James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” at Bell Auditorium in Augusta on Wednesday night.

Augusta was James Brown’s longtime home, so the city was fitting place for Bob’s first ever cover of the King Of Soul. Dylan’s rendition of “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” came as the final song of the evening, the same slot used for “Moon River” in Savannah. Multi-instrumentalist Donnie Herron played violin on the cover. James Brown released the original as a single in 1966 and scored the number one slot on the Billboard R&B chart.
