The Producers Guild of America awards are often a bellwether for the Oscars, and this year\u2019s list of 10 nominees offer the usual suspects from recent awards groups. The notable entry is Rian Johnson\u2019s hit holiday comedy \u201cKnives Out,\u201d which also landed a nomination from the Writers Guild this week. Left out of the PGA running are Oscar hopefuls \u201cThe Farewell,\u201d \u201cBombshell\u201d and \u201cThe Two Popes,\u201d which may have to settle for acting awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More often than not, the PGA award-winner is the same as the eventual winner of the Best Picture Oscar. Since its inception, the PGA has predicted 21 of the 30 winners of the Academy Award for Best Picture. Remarkably, two producers are in the running for two\u00a0PGA awards: David Heyman for \u201cMarriage Story\u201d and \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood,\u201d and Emma Tillinger Koskoff, for \u201cJoker\u201d and \u201cThe Irishman.\u201d Odds are good one of them will make it to the winner\u2019s circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Winners will be announced at the PGA awards ceremony on January 18 at the Hollywood Palladium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selznick Achievement Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures); Marta Kauffman (Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television); Octavia Spencer (Visionary Award); and the Lionsgate film Bombshell (The Stanley Kramer Award).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, the winner of the Innovation Award and the winner in the Short-Form category will be announced at a\u00a0PGA\u00a0nominees event on January 16 at the Hollywood Museum in Los Angeles.
