Dom Toretto can keep his fleet of fast and furious cars:\u00a0The Batman\u00a0<\/em>director Matt Reeves just gave the world its first look at the new Batman\u2019s new Batmobile and it\u2019s a ride that any\u00a0teenage sidekick would covet<\/a>. Reeves posted three images of the Caped Crusader\u2019s signature vehicle on Twitter, all of which also feature Robert Pattinson suited up as Gotham City\u2019s Dark Knight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These pictures are the director\u2019s latest peek at his currently shooting franchise reboot, which has Pattinson taking over the cape and cowl from departing DC Extended Universe crimefighter, Ben Affleck. Earlier this month,\u00a0Reeves unveiled a camera test<\/a>\u00a0of his leading man modeling the new Batsuit, which is a more streamlined ensemble than the bulky Bat-armor we\u2019ve seen on past Caped Crusaders, be it Michael Keaton or Christian Bale. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be very, very cool,\u201d\u00a0Pattinson told Yahoo Entertainment about his costume last year<\/a>… and he\u2019s not wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This updated Batmobile is similarly stripped-down, which makes sense as its owner is still in the process of\u00a0acquiring all of his wonderful toys<\/a>. The script by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin\u00a0reportedly takes place<\/a>\u00a0during Batman\u2019s second year as a crimefighter, and pits the young hero against an all-star rogues gallery that includes the Penguin (Colin Farrell), the Riddler (Paul Dano) and\u00a0Catwoman (Zo\u00eb Kravitz)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presumably, he\u2019ll pursue those crooks \u2014 and their various henchpersons \u2014 behind the wheel of the Batmobile, which features a Bat-mask on the rear of the car right above a circular exhaust that recalls\u00a0the vintage 1989 version<\/a>\u00a0from Tim Burton\u2019s genre-transforming hit. (Going back further, the\u00a01966 Batmobile boasted a similar feature<\/a>.) The overall silhouette is less gothic than that much-loved Batmobile, and less militaristic than\u00a0the tank-like Tumbler that took center stage in Christopher Nolan\u2019s\u00a0Dark Knight\u00a0<\/em>trilogy<\/a>. It\u2019s more like someone took a normal American muscle car and stuck a Bat-face on the bumper…\u00a0which more or less sounds like what the filmmakers were going for<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we have yet to see it in action, this Batmobile is already speeding its way into the hearts of many a Bat-fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
