Green Day\u2019s\u00a0Billie Joe Armstrong, along with his sons Joey and Jakob, performed a cover of \u201cI Think We\u2019re Alone Now\u201d on Tuesday\u2019s\u00a0Late Late Show With James Corden<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Performing via the singer\u2019s recording studio, the Armstrongs delivered a fiery punk-pop take on the Tommy James and the Shondells single.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement to Rolling Stone<\/em>, Tommy James said of the cover, \u201cI am honored that Billy Joe Armstrong covered my hit of \u2018I Think We\u2019re Alone Now\u2019 \u2013 I have always been a huge fan of Green Day \u2013 met them a few years back at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame \u2013 Billy did a great job and the lyrics seem to be so perfect for this moment in our history\u2026..the quality of the recording is so good, it\u2019s hard to believe he did it from his house. Thanks, Billy!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Armstrong previously covered \u201cI Think We\u2019re Alone Now\u201d as part of his ongoing at-home covers series No Fun Mondays, which also featured the Green Day frontman performing \u201cManic Monday\u201d with the Bangles\u2019 Susanna Hoffs and \u201cThat Thing You Do!\u201d in tribute to the song\u2019s co-writer, Fountains of Wayne\u2019s Adam Schlesinger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have a small studio, and as soon as the shutdown happened, I was like now I can go in and to occupy my time, go in and do some recording and some writing,\u201d Armstrong told Corden of the No Fun Mondays series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview that preceded the performance, Corden asked Armstrong \u2014 who has appeared on the big screen in\u00a0Ordinary World<\/em>\u00a0and on the stage in the\u00a0American Idiot<\/em>\u00a0musical \u2014 whether he\u2019d want to do more acting. \u201cI think so, I like to think of myself as a pretty decent b-movie actor,\u201d Armstrong said. \u201cI have a thing, I wanna do things like\u00a0The Young & The Restless<\/em>, or do a soap opera.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
