At long last,\u00a0Peter Jackson<\/a>\u00a0has given\u00a0Beatles<\/a>\u00a0fans a glimpse at his upcoming documentary,\u00a0The Beatles: Get Back<\/em><\/a>, due out August 27th, 2021.<\/p>\n

Paul McCartney<\/a>\u00a0dropped a five-minute clip from the doc via his Twitter Monday morning that features Jackson introducing the snippet and sharing the news that the film is just about half done. Jackson stressed that this not a trailer for the doc, but rather a sampling of the 56 hours of never-before-seen footage it will feature. Scored by the titular song, the sneak peek features all manner of studio antics.<\/p>\n

Featuring footage shot in early 1969 \u2014 including clips from the band\u2019s legendary 1969 rooftop concert in London \u2014 the film promises to be \u201cthe ultimate \u2018fly on the wall\u2019 experience that Beatles fans have long dreamt about \u2014 it\u2019s like a time machine transports us back to 1969, and we get to sit in the studio watching these four friends make great music together,\u201d according to Jackson.<\/p>\n

Get Back<\/em>\u00a0will build on 1970\u2019s\u00a0Let It Be\u00a0<\/em>\u2014 also shot during those sessions \u2014 but will present a much sunnier vision of the Beatles\u2019 breakup. As\u00a0Ringo Starr<\/a>\u00a0said in a release: \u201cThere were hours and hours of us just laughing and playing music, not at all like the version that came out. There was a lot of joy and I think Peter will show that. I think this version will be a lot more peace and loving, like we really were.\u201d<\/p>\n

Starr recently announced a new EP,\u00a0Zoom In<\/em>, set for March 2021. \u201cI was disappointed that the pandemic got in the way of my two tours this year,\u201d\u00a0he told\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>. \u201cAnd it gave me a couple of miserable days, because I want to play. So what happened, I made a EP. That helped \u2014 I made a record and did some painting.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCartney dropped his latest,\u00a0McCartney III<\/em>, last week \u2014 and also appeared on the cover of the latest issue of\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em>\u00a0with\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/a>\u00a0as part of our \u201cMusicians on Musicians\u201d series. \u201cI had no idea it would end up as an album,\u201d\u00a0he told Swift of his new record<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m very lucky because I have a studio that\u2019s, like, 20 minutes away from where I live. We were in lockdown on a farm, a sheep farm with my daughter Mary and her four kids and her husband. So I had four of my grandkids, I had Mary, who\u2019s a great cook, so I would just drive myself to the studio.\u201d<\/p>\n
