The biggest winners of the 78th Golden Globes were \u201cNomadland\u201d and \u201cBorat Subsequent Moviefilm.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
The two films earned awards for best picture; \u201cNomadland\u201d for the drama category and \u201cBorat Subsequent Moviefilm\u201d for the comedy or musical division.<\/p>\r\n
Among notable achievements of the night, Chloe Zhao, the director behind \u201cNomadland,\u201d became the first woman to win the best director award since 1984 when Barbara Streisand secured an award for \u201cYentl.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
Despite nominations for Black actors and filmmakers being sparse, winners were not in short supply. John Boyega, Daniel Kaluuya, Andra Day and the late Chadwick Boseman were all honored for their work during Sunday\u2019s ceremony.<\/p>\r\n
Additionally, Jon Batiste secured a best score win alongside Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.<\/p>\r\n
\u201cSoul\u201d took home the award for best animated film, earning co-directors Kemp Powers and Pete Docter trophies.<\/p>\r\n
For the television awards \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek,\u201d \u201cQueen\u2019s Gambit\u201d and \u201cThe Crown\u201d dominated across acting and best series categories.<\/p>\r\n
Much of the broadcast was overshadowed by the recent revelation that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association did not have any Black voters.<\/p>\r\n
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the ceremony from opposite coasts, and didn\u2019t pull any punches with the HFPA.<\/p>\r\n
\u201cWe should have told you,\u201d Poehler said. \u201cEveryone is upset with the HFPA and their choices. Look, a lot of flashy garbage got nominated, but that happens. That is their thing. But a number of Black actors and Black-led projects were overlooked.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
\u201cBut even with stupid things, inclusivity is important,\u201d Fey added. \u201cThere\u2019s no Black members of the HFPA. You have to change that.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
The HFPA also used the broadcast to issue a statement about their plans to include more Black journalists and other minority reporters in its organization in the future.<\/p>\r\n
\u201cTonight while we celebrate the work of artists from around the globe, we recognize we have our own work to do,\u201d Helen Hoehne, vice president of the HFPA said. \u201cLike in film and television, Black representation is vital. We must have Black journalists in our organization.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
Many of Sunday\u2019s winners used their acceptance speeches as a time to call for diversity and inclusivity in the industry at large.<\/p>\r\n
\u201cIn the spirit of inclusion, I hope that this time next year, this ceremony reflects the true breadth and diversity of the film and television being made today, because there is so much more to be celebrated,\u201d said Dan Levy, the writer and one of the stars of \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

Netflix garners 10 Globes, most of any distributor<\/strong><\/p>\r\n Netflix\u00a0was the biggest winner on Sunday night. The streaming service won 10 Golden Globes during the telecast including best drama series for \u201cThe Crown\u201d and best limited series for \u201cQueens Gambit.\u201d<\/p>\r\n \u201cThe Crown\u201d also garnered three acting wins for Emma Corrin, who portrayed Princess Diana, Josh O\u2019Connor, who played Prince Charles and Gillian Anderson, who took on the role of Margaret Thatcher.<\/p>\r\n Anya Taylor-Joy won the best actress in a limited series award for her turn as Beth Harmon\u00a0in \u201cQueen\u2019s Gambit.\u201d<\/p>\r\n The late Chadwick Boseman was honored with the best actor in a drama award for his work in \u201cMa Rainey\u2019s Black Bottom.\u201d<\/p>\r\n Netflix also scored wins from Rosamund Pike\u2019s performance in \u201cI Care A Lot,\u201d Aaron Sorkin\u2019s screenplay for \u201cTrial of the Chicago 7\u2033 and the original song \u201cIo Si (Seen)\u201d from \u201cThe Life Ahead.\u201d<\/p>\r\n Disney\u00a0had the second-most awards with five.
