It\u2019s now the end of summer 2021 and that same Driving Mode, at least in the way it was first revealed, is now here. 2 years later\u2026whatever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Google Assistant Driving Mode is more of a stand-alone experience than the one\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.droid-life.com\/2020\/11\/17\/google-assistant-driving-mode-is-here\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">we first received last November<\/a>, where you could access Driving Mode shortcuts through a Google Maps navigation session. This is the real deal, the one we\u2019ve been waiting for that will replace Android Auto on phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By saying \u201cdriving mode\u201d or \u201clet\u2019s drive\u201d to Google Assistant, you should now see the UI I have in this post. The main screen shows a recent location you may have been searching for on Google Maps, but you can \u201cX\u201d that out to get to a search bar. You also should see recent music or \u201cFor you\u201d suggestions, buttons for sending messages or making calls, and an app drawer button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.droid-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Google-Assistant-Driving-Mode-1-980x634.jpg\" alt=\"Google Assistant Driving Mode\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a pretty slick experience that lives within the Google app, so make sure you have the latest build (likely a beta for now) to test this out.
