House of Gucci and The Power of the Dog are the top film nominees for the 2022 SAG Awards, with each movie earning three nominations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top TV nominees are Succession and Ted Lasso, which each scored five nominations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Power of the Dog, however, missed out on the SAG Awards\u2019 top category of best cast, with nominees there consisting of Belfast, CODA, Don\u2019t Look Up, House of Gucci and King Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While three of those nominees feature three star-packed ensembles with Belfast, Don\u2019t Look Up and House of Gucci, only three actors from those films \u2014 Beflast\u2018s Caitriona Balfe, and House of Gucci\u2018s Lady Gaga and Jared Leto \u2014 earned individual nominations. Family dramas CODA and King Richard both earned individual acting noms for Troy Kotsur (best supporting male actor) and Will Smith (best male actor), respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best cast prize is considered SAG-AFTRA\u2019s best picture equivalent. But, in recent years,<\/a> a number of titles have won the best picture Oscar without nabbing best cast nominations, including last year\u2019s best picture winner Nomadland<\/em> and 2018 and 2019 Oscar best picture winners The Shape of Water<\/em> and Green Book<\/em>, respectively. The 2020 best cast winner Parasite<\/em> is the latest title to take the SAG Awards\u2019 top prize before winning the Oscars\u2019 best picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the television categories, the nominees are a mix of previous Emmy winners from 2021 (Mare of Easttown<\/em>\u2018s Kate Winslet and Evan Peters;\u00a0Ted Lasso<\/em>\u2018s Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein and Hannah Waddingham; and\u00a0Hacks<\/em>\u2018 Jean Smart) and early contenders in the 2022 Emmys race, including HBO\u2019s anthology series\u00a0The White Lotus<\/em>, Hulu\u2019s comedy\u00a0Only Murders in the Building<\/em>\u00a0and Netflix\u2019s\u00a0Squid Game<\/em>, which is\u00a0the first non-English-language series and first Korean series\u00a0to earn a nomination for ensemble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to Squid Game,<\/em> the drama ensemble nominees are The Handmaid\u2019s Tale, The Morning Show, Succession<\/em> and Yellowstone<\/em>. Only Murders in the Building, <\/em>meanwhile, will vie for the comedy series ensemble prize alongside The Great, Hacks, The Kominsky Method<\/em> and Ted Lasso<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s nominations were announced on Instagram Live<\/a> by Rosario Dawson (Dopesick<\/em>) and Vanessa Hudgens (Tick, Tick\u2026Boom!<\/em>) on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After going virtual last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SAG Awards will this year air live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. ET\/5 p.m. PT from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was previously announced that\u00a0Helen Mirren would receive the Life Achievement Award\u00a0at the 28th annual ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
