On Sunday evening, the BAFTA TV awards were held at the Royal Festival Hall in London, and several notable individuals including Kate Winslet, Sharon Horgan, and Ben Whishaw were awarded the top prizes. The event was hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winslet <\/strong>won the prize for best leading actress for her turn in \u201cI Am Ruth,\u201d<\/strong> which also\u00a0starred her real-life daughter\u00a0Mia Threapleton<\/strong>. The duo also took to the stage to accept the award for best single drama, with Threapleton tearing up. \u201cWe did this together kiddo,\u201d Winslet said as she accepted the leading actress award, adding: \u201cThere were days when it was agony for [Threapleton] to dig as deeply as she did and it took my breath away.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Horgan, meanwhile, thanked her writers as she accepted the award for best drama on behalf of Apple TV+ series \u201cBad Sisters,\u201d which also saw Anne-Marie Duff take home the prize for best supporting actress. \u201cIt all begins and ends with the writers so we\u2019re in solidarity to our WGA brothers and sisters,\u201d Horgan said, noting it had also been a \u201cbit of a year for the Irish and women of a certain age and I\u2019m in that Venn diagram, right in the middle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Ben Whishaw\u2019s series \u201cThis Is Going to Hurt\u201d lost out to Nic\u00f4le Lecky\u2019s \u201cMood\u201d in the best mini-series category, he went on stage to accept an award for best leading actor for the show, beating out Cillian Murphy and Gary Oldman. Whishaw was also part of\u00a0Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s Paddington Bear skit\u00a0\u2013 as the voice of Paddington \u2013 which won an award for most memorable moment, the only prize voted on by the public. The skit beat out Nick and Charlie\u2019s first kiss in \u201cHeartstopper\u201d and the \u201cRunning Up That Hill\u201d moment in \u201cStranger Things,\u201d among other nominees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BBC\u2019s coverage of the Platinum Jubilee also won a BAFTA for best live event while athlete Mo Farah\u2019s shocking documentary, which revealed he\u2019d been smuggled to the U.K. as a child, won best doc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adeel Akhtar picked up the best supporting actor for his turn in \u201cSherwood\u201d while, in the international category, Netflix\u2019s \u201cDahmer\u201d won for best series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BBC gameshow \u201cThe Traitors\u201d also won two awards, one in the best reality and constructed factual category and another for host Claudia Winkleman, who won for best entertainment performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two special awards were also handed out during the night, one to historian David Olusoga, who has appeared in the Netflix docu-series \u201cHarry & Meghan\u201d among other programs, while comedian Meera Syal was honored with a BAFTA fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The show, which also saw Lewis Capaldi perform his new single, was broadcast as live on the BBC two hours after it took place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
