A classic rock legend is set to release a lost album from nearly 50 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Neil Young announced Friday that \u201cOceanside Countryside,\u201d a previously unissued album recorded between May and December 1977, will be out Feb. 14. The 10-song collection, including collaborations with Levon Helm, will be part of Young\u2019s Analog Originals series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis analog original album was recorded in 1977 and unreleased,\u201d Young said. \u201cThese songs are the original mixes done at the time of the recordings in the order I planned for the album. I sang the vocals and played the instruments on Oceanside (Side A) in Florida at Triad studios and Malibu at Indigo studio. I sang the vocals and recorded with my great band of friends, Ben Keith, Joe Osborn, Karl T. Himmel, and Rufus Thibodeaux at Crazy Mama\u2019s in Nashville on Countryside (Side B).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI hope you enjoy this treasure of an Analog Original recording, recorded by Tim Mulligan, as much as I do. Listening to it now, I think I should have put it out back then.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to\u00a0Ultimate Classic Rock, three tracks ended up on Young\u2019s 1978 album, \u201cComes a Time,\u201d including \u201cGoin\u2019 Back,\u201d \u201cHuman Highway\u201d and \u201cField of Opportunity.\u201d Some also appeared on the \u201cArchives Vol. III (1976-1987)\u201d compilation last year, but \u201cOceanside Countryside\u201d will feature previously unreleased versions of songs and mark the first time the tracks appear in the album\u2019s original running order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Young, 79, is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician known for his work with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, plus\u00a0solo projects\u00a0featuring hits like \u201cHarvest Moon,\u201d \u201cHeart of Gold,\u201d \u201cRockin\u2019 in the Free World\u201d and \u201cOld Man.\u201d He most recently performed in Upstate New York at\u00a0Farm Aid 2024\u00a0in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
