Kristen Stewart has spoken out on the film industry\u2019s treatment of women in a new interview with Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/a>. The star, best known for her role in the Twilight franchise, says women are downgraded next to their male counterparts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen inevitably have to work a little bit harder to be heard,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cHollywood is disgustingly sexist. It\u2019s crazy. It\u2019s so offensive it\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart also spoke about her dislike of sex scenes, including with her co-star and ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI only hate them when they\u2019re contrived. That\u2019s when it\u2019s grotesquely uncomfortable,\u201d she said. \u201cOn Twilight<\/a>, we had to do the most epic sex scene of all time. It had to be transcendent and otherworldly, inhuman, better sex than you can possibly ever imagine. We were like, \u2018How do we live up to that?\u2019 It was agony. Which sucks, because I wanted it to be so good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart, who will next be seen in her C\u00e9sar-winning role in Clouds of Sils Maria<\/a>, went on to discuss the decision by many of her peers to go topless in their work.<\/p>\n

\u201cI \u2026 question when a fairly established actress finally does a scene in a movie when she shows her boobs, and she hasn\u2019t done it up until [that] moment,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd maybe she only did it for the prestigious part and it\u2019s OK for this time because it\u2019s classy, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh God, thank you for revealing to the world your treasure\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that fame was \u201cthe worst thing in the world\u201d.<\/p>\n

Last October saw the actor claim she would take some time off to \u201cmake stuff with her hands<\/a>\u201d. Since then she has signed on for the new Woody Allen film<\/a> andhistorical drama The Great Getaway alongside Brendon Gleeson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
