{"id":43054,"date":"2016-03-07T00:18:19","date_gmt":"2016-03-06T22:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ngradio.gr\/en\/?p=43054"},"modified":"2016-03-07T02:20:51","modified_gmt":"2016-03-07T00:20:51","slug":"apples-new-twitter-account-has-already-helped-thousands-of-users-in-its-first-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ngradio.gr\/en\/news-el\/technology-en\/apples-new-twitter-account-has-already-helped-thousands-of-users-in-its-first-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple\u2019s new Twitter account has already helped thousands of users in its first day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, notoriously social media-shy Apple revealed a new Twitter account,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/applesupport\">@AppleSupport<\/a>, which responds to technical questions from users and tweets out tips and tutorials.<\/p>\n<p>24 hours later, Apple Support has over 121,000 followers, and\u00a0has\u00a0tweeted over 2,200 times directly to Apple users with instructions for how to fix their problems.\u00a0Turns out, there was quite a bit of pent-up demand for Apple support on social media.<\/p>\n<p>That works out to between 2 and 3\u00a0responses per minute, given that Apple Support only works for 15 hours per day. In addition, Apple&#8217;s support representatives have\u00a0to filter out\u00a0joke tweets:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AppleSupport\">@AppleSupport<\/a> I think you guys should unlock that iPhone<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Zac Hall (@apollozac) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/apollozac\/status\/705414010859032576\">March 3, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Apple already had a <a href=\"https:\/\/getsupport.apple.com\/\">robust online support service<\/a> with lots of customer service tutorials. Users\u00a0could also schedule a phone call with Apple Support. Plus, Apple&#8217;s network of retail stores serve as contact points for technical support as well.<\/p>\n<p>Apple retail boss Angela Ahrendts <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AngelaAhrendts\/status\/705523156656652288?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">tweeted<\/a> she was &#8220;thrilled to have another wonderful support option for customers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Among tech giants, Apple is\u00a0late to\u00a0embrace\u00a0Twitter. For example, Microsoft&#8217;s Xbox Support accounts have been <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/XboxSupport\">on Twitter since 2009<\/a>\u00a0and are famous\u00a0for fast response times.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey welcomed Apple Support and used the account to make a point that he believes that Twitter is well-suited for real-time customer service.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p>\nA HUGE welcome to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AppleSupport\">@AppleSupport<\/a>! Now using Twitter to provide customer support through tweets and DMs! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wORkp6mRNa\">https:\/\/t.co\/wORkp6mRNa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jack (@jack) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/705416189166657539\">March 3, 2016<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"embed-spacer\">The Apple Support Twitter account appears to be managed with the help of\u00a0Sprinklr, a social media software from a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/sprinklr-raises-46-million-to-become-the-latest-tech-unicorn-2015-4\">high-flying New York startup<\/a>. Other Apple social media accounts tweet through Sprinklr, including <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iBooks\">iBooks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"embed-spacer\">However, despite the new account, Apple continues to have a relatively light presence on social media in general.
