Classic rock band Spirit claims Led Zeppelin lifted the opening chords to \u201cStairway to Heaven\u201d \u2014 one of the genre\u2019s most enduring and commercially successful songs \u2014 from \u201cTaurus,\u201d a track off the band\u2019s 1968 debut Spirit<\/em>. According to court documents obtained by EW, Spirit says it shared a bill with Zeppelin three times between 1968 and 1970, meaning the famed British rockers would\u2019ve had multiple opportunities to have heard \u201cTaurus\u201d before releasing Led Zeppelin IV<\/em>, which includes \u201cStairway,\u201d in late 1971. The infringement suit was filed in 2014 by Michael Skidmore, who is a trustee for Spirit\u2019s late guitarist Randy Wolfe.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
