John Davis, Joel Silver, and Lawrence Gordon \u2014 who produced the original \u2014 are producing with hopes to begin shooting next year. Fox has already slotted \u201cThe Predator\u201d for a Feb. 9, 2018, opening.<\/p>\n<p>Plot details are under wraps. The original was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger,\u00a0Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura as commandos attempting to rescue hostages while being stalked in a jungle in Central America by a fearsome extra-terrestrial, played by Kevin Peter Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Black appeared in \u201cPredator\u201d in a supporting role as \u201cRick Hawkins,\u201d shortly after \u201cLethal Weapon,\u201d which he had written, became a massive hit for Silver. His directing credits include \u201cKiss Kiss Bang Bang,\u201d \u201cIron Man 3\u201d and \u201cThe Nice Guys,\u201d starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, from his own scripts.<\/p>\n<p>Fox released \u201cPredator 2\u201d in 1990 and \u201cPredators\u201d in 2010, as well as crossover films with the Alien franchise, \u201cAlien vs. Predator\u201d (2004) and \u201cAliens vs. Predator: Requiem\u201d (2007).<\/p>\n<p>Del Toro starred in \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy\u201d and \u201cSicario\u201d and is <a href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2016\/film\/news\/star-wars-episode-viii-benicio-del-toro-laura-dern-join-cast-1201706401\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">set to appear in \u201cStar Wars: Episode VIII.\u201d<\/a> He\u00a0 is repped by CAA, LBI Entertainment and Hansen, Jacobson.
