The Oscar winner and star of stage and screen has been named the host of the 71st annual Tony Awards on June 11, the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing announced\u00a0Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony will broadcast live from New York\u2019s Radio City Music Hall on CBS starting at 8 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n<p>Though Spacey is best known for his onscreen roles, winning Academy Awards for\u00a0<em>American Beauty\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>The Usual Suspects\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0earning multiple Emmy nominations for his turn as Frank Underwood on Netflix\u2019s\u00a0<em>House of Cards,\u00a0<\/em>he also has a long history on the stage. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for his performance in\u00a0<em>Lost in Yonkers <\/em>in 1991, and has\u00a0also served as the Artistic Director of the Old Vic Theatre Company in London for over a decade, appearing in numerous productions during his tenure there, including a Sam Mendes-directed production of\u00a0<em>Richard III\u00a0<\/em>that toured 12 cities around the world. I think my career is definitely going in the right direction,\u201d Spacey said in a statement. \u201cMaybe I can get shortlisted to host the Oscars if everyone else turns it down.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"universal-ad-1\" class=\"univ-ad ad-universal__content ad-lazy-load-on-viewable people--ad-center_horizontal ad-processed\" data-ad-pos=\"1\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">While Spacey is primarily known as an actor, he\u2019s done his fair share of singing, as Bobby Darin in 2004\u2019s\u00a0<em>Beyond the Sea\u00a0<\/em>and more recently\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ew.com\/music\/2017\/04\/15\/billy-joel-kevin-spacey-new-york-state-of-mind\/\" target=\"_blank\">duetting with Billy Joel<\/a> on \u201cNew York State of Mind\u201d at\u00a0one of the singer\u2019s recent Madison Square Garden concerts.
