The Crown<\/em>\u00a0might have a new\u00a0Princess Margaret<\/strong>.\u00a0Helena Bonham Carter<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is reportedly near a deal to replace\u00a0Vanessa Kirby<\/strong>\u00a0in the royal role for season three.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Evening Standard<\/em><\/a>\u00a0first reported Bonham Carter’s involvement in the Netflix series. Reps for Bonham Carter declined to comment<\/p>\n

Bonham Carter was nominated for two Oscars, including her work in\u00a0The King’s Speech<\/em>\u00a0where she played\u00a0Queen Elizabeth II<\/strong>\u00a0and Princess Margaret’s mother. Her other credits include the\u00a0Harry Potter<\/em>\u00a0films,\u00a0Ocean’s 8<\/em>,\u00a0Fight Club<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street<\/em>.<\/p>\n

If the deal closes, Bonham Carter will join\u00a0Olivia Colman<\/strong>\u00a0as part of the new cast of Netflix’s award-winning drama. Colman will take over the role of Queen Elizabeth II from\u00a0Claire Foy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“I think Claire Foy is an absolute genius–she’s an incredibly hard act to follow,” Colman told\u00a0BBC<\/a>. “I’m basically going to re-watch every episode and copy her.”<\/p>\n

“You’ll forget all about me and the rest of the cast,”\u00a0Foy joked<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0Jimmy Fallon<\/a><\/strong>. “You’ll be like, \u2018Who are they?’ We’re the warm-up act.”<\/p>\n

With Colman in place and Bonham Carter near a deal, that just leaves the key role of\u00a0Prince Philip<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0Matt Smith<\/strong>\u00a0played the royal for the first two seasons and the\u00a0Doctor Who<\/em>\u00a0veteran said he might know who’s taking over for him.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“If it’s the person it could be, I was just totally flattered I thought, \u2018How marvelous,'”\u00a0Smith told<\/a>Seth Meyers<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The new season will job forward in time, hence the new cast.\u00a0The Crown<\/em>\u00a0reportedly has a plan for six seasons to tell the story of the modern Windsor royal family. Viewers will see\u00a0Prince Charles<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0as a teen and meet\u00a0Camilla Parker Bowles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Crown<\/em>\u00a0is expected to return in 2019.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
