Roger Waters talks of new 5.1 mix in current Prog magazine interview…<\/p>\n

Pink Floyd fans might soon be enjoying a new 5.1 mix of the band’s 1977\u00a0Animals<\/em>\u00a0album.<\/p>\n

That’s according to former bassist Roger Waters. In an interview in the current interview of\u00a0Prog<\/em>\u00a0magazine (available here<\/a>), when asked if he was working on anything Pink Floyd related, Water’s replied: “Yeah. I\u2019ve just been working with Po. There\u2019s a re-issue of\u00a0Animals<\/em>. A 5.1 mix of\u00a0Animals<\/em>\u00a0so I\u2019ve been working… Well I haven\u2019t been working, he\u2019s been working. He came up with some new photographs of Battersea Power Station as it is now to use as a CD cover for the new 5.1 mix. It\u2019s beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pink Floyd released Immersion box sets of two of their biggest albums in 2011-\u00a0Dark Side Of The Moon<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Wish You Were Here<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0The Wall<\/em>, which followed in 2012. And a 20th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set of\u00a0The Division Bell<\/em>\u00a0was released in 2014. But\u00a0Animals<\/em>\u00a0has never been accorded such an honour.<\/p>\n

As yet, there is no official word from the band’s record label, who have recently been reissuing the band’s catalogue on new 180g vinyl – most recently\u00a0Relics<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Pulse<\/em>. And it is not known if the proposed release would form part of a bigger set – CD does not support 5.1 so it would have to be released on Blu-ray. However judging by Waters’ comments, watch this space…<\/p>\n
