Foreigner announced four concerts billed as \u201cspecial celebrations,” featuring all of the surviving members of the band, past and present, which will take place on Nov. 9, Nov. 10, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 this year. The brief run follows last night\u2019s similar appearance \u2013 arranged after leader Mick Jones and former frontman Lou Gramm settled their differences several years ago \u2013 and several informal guest spots in recent times.<\/p>\n
Channeling the announcement via an exclusive interview with\u00a0Forbes.com<\/a>, Jones also discussed the kind of modern bands he\u2019d like to share the stage with as they celebrate their own legacy. \u201cFor me, probably\u00a0Queens Of The Stone Age<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Killers<\/a>,\u201d he said. \u201cJosh [Homme]<\/a>\u00a0is a very cool guy. My stepson, Mark Ronson, produced an album recently with them. It\u2019s good to listen to music when it\u2019s your life and try to distinguish some of the new artists that come out. Like the Killers when they came out, I thought the freshness and the sound and the songwriting were there. Those are the things I go by and I guess I always have.\u201d<\/p>\n Reflecting on Foreigner\u2019s early years, and how their second album\u00a0Double Vision<\/em><\/a>\u00a0broke the \u201csophomore jinx\u201d and secured their future, he said: \u201c[W]e kind of looked upon ourselves as more of a R&B band at one point. Not that we sounded like a R&B band, but the feel that we played with together. \u2026 We had original ideas from the\u00a0Who<\/a>\u00a0and we had that fermenting quietly in the background and then it came to the fore with doing songs a little rougher edged and not quite produced and all that kind of stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cThe second album,\u00a0Double Vision<\/em>, we found ourselves suddenly vying and competing with the\u00a0Rolling Stones<\/a>\u00a0on the same label. And we actually ended up out-selling\u00a0Some Girls<\/em><\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0Double Vision<\/em>\u00a0and that\u2019s like, \u2018What? What\u2019d we just do?\u2019 It was a real euphoric feeling. I think we all felt that was the beginning of the band almost, of the ability to go out and play and headline ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n Jones also repeated his\u00a0commitment<\/a>\u00a0to completing songs that had been started with Gramm in the past, saying sessions would hopefully take place early in 2019.
