In 2010, several songs were\u00a0released that were said to be recorded by the late\u00a0Michael Jackson<\/a>.\u00a0Four years later,\u00a0one fan questioned the music\u2019s validity, leading many to believe the music was fraudulent. Now, nearly three years after the scandal,\u00a0Sony Music Entertainment\u00a0<\/a>has admitted to releasing and selling fake tunes by the late legend.<\/p>\n

The fake songs reportedly appeared on the 2010\u00a0posthumous album\u00a0Michael<\/em>. The songs in question include: \u201cMonster,\u201d \u201cKeep Your Head Up,\u201d and \u201cBreaking News.\u201d In court documents obtained by\u00a0Karen Civil<\/em><\/a>, Vera Servoa \u2013 the fan who kickstarted the investigation into the fake MJ songs \u2013\u00a0filed a civil suit, accusing\u00a0Jackson\u2019s longtime friends Eddie Cascio, James Victor Porte, and his production company, Angelikson Productions LLC of creating and selling music through Sony and the Jackson estate.<\/p>\n

Cascio and Porte initially claimed that the songs were recorded in Cascio\u2019s basement in 2007. Serova and the Jackson family, contested those claims however. While the singles sounded similar to MJ\u2019s sound, they said Michael never recorded them. Serova testified in the\u00a0Los Angeles Superior Court that they were recorded by an impersonator named Jason Malachi.<\/p>\n

Consequently, Sony Music Entertainment conceded in court, that it had released fake singles. It\u2019s unclear if fans or Jackson\u2019s estate will be awarded for the criminal behavior or whether there will be an monetary punishment for Sony.<\/p>\n
