When the line suddenly goes dead, Hom is pitched into a race against time to save the woman&#8217;s life \u2014 with a phone his only tool.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>&#8216;s<em>\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/review\/guilty-review-1075981\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">review<\/a>\u00a0called it a &#8220;cleverly constructed police procedural.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Guilty\u00a0<\/em>beat out two other titles from a shortlist that included Bille August&#8217;s\u00a0<em>A Fortunate Man<\/em>\u00a0and Hlynur Palmason&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Winter Brothers<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The film, which premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section, was released in Denmark and France in June and has been seen by nearly 400,000 people so far. Its U.S. release, through Magnolia Pictures, is scheduled for Oct. 19. Magnolia also distributed the earlier Oscar-nominated Danish films\u00a0<em>A Royal Affair<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Hunt<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>A War<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Guilty was<\/em>\u00a0produced by Lina Flint and Nordisk Film.
