That decision will apply for Academy Awards 2019, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, BAFTA, Critics\u2019 Choice and more (although Academy Awards voters can place contenders wherever they wish).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Rob Marshall<\/strong>\u00a0film opening December 19 is a sequel to the original Disney smash from 1964, which won\u00a0<strong>Julie Andrews<\/strong>\u00a0a Best Actress Oscar. The plot involves the title character returning to visit the adult versions of the Banks children and help them through new difficulties in their lives.\u00a0<strong><a id=\"auto-tag_emily-blunt\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goldderby.com\/t\/emily-blunt\/\" data-tag=\"emily-blunt\">Emily Blunt<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0takes over the role from Andrews.<\/p>\n<p>Blunt, of course, is campaigning as Best Actress. Three-time Oscar champ\u00a0<strong>Meryl Streep<\/strong>\u00a0and honorary Oscar recipient\u00a0<strong>Angela Lansbury<\/strong>\u00a0along with\u00a0<strong>Emily Mortimer<\/strong>\u00a0are listed in the Best Supporting Actress category. Oscar winner\u00a0<strong>Colin Firth<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ben Whishaw<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Dick Van Dyke<\/strong>\u00a0(who is also just an Oscar short of EGOT) are competing for recognition as Best Supporting Actor.<\/p>\n<p>The original classic also won Oscars for Best Editing (<strong>Cotton Warburton<\/strong>), Best Special Visual Effects (<strong>Peter Ellenshaw<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Hamilton Luske<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Eustace Lycett<\/strong>), Best Original Score (<strong>Richard M. Sherman<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Robert B.
