But while we\u2019ve known for quite a while that Brie Larson plays Carol Danvers\/Captain Marvel in the film, we had no idea what Jude Law\u2019s role might be. We\u2019ve seen rumors saying that he\u2019s playing Mar-Vell, as well as stories saying that he\u2019s actually playing a villain named\u00a0Yon-Rogg. As with other MCU movies, both Marvel and Disney try to protect spoilers from leaking out ahead of the film\u2019s release, but it looks like Disney messed up this time and accidentally revealed Law\u2019s character.<\/p>\n<p>Picked up by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mcucosmic.com\/2018\/12\/27\/disney-reveals-jude-laws-character-name-in-captain-marvel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><em>MCU Cosmic<\/em><\/a>, the following screenshot comes from Disney\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/movies.disney.com\/captain-marvel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">website<\/a>, revealing that Jude Law will indeed play \u201cMar-Vell, the leader of Starforce:\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/boygeniusreport.files.wordpress.com\/2018\/12\/captain-marvel-jude-law-role-mar-vell.jpg?quality=98&amp;strip=all&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At first,\u00a0<em>MCU Cosmic<\/em>\u00a0speculated that we might be looking at misdirection from Disney. Law could indeed play Mar-Vell, but also Yon-Rogg. That could be exactly the kind of twist the company would to hide. Over on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt4154664\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">IMDB page<\/a>for the film, Jude Law is billed as playing Walter Lawson\/Mar-Vell.<\/p>\n<p>However, Disney then edited the image above to remove the name of Law\u2019s character, suggesting it was all a mistake. The caption now reads \u201cLeader of the StarForce,\u201d as seen below:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/boygeniusreport.files.wordpress.com\/2018\/12\/captain-marvel-jude-law-role-fixed.jpg?quality=98&amp;strip=all&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Captain Marvel<\/em>\u00a0takes place in the \u201990s and will be the origin story for Larsen\u2019s character, whose presence in\u00a0<em>Avengers 4<\/em>\u00a0was teased in the post-credits scenes after\u00a0<em>Infinity War<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to accidentally revealing Law\u2019s character, Disney and Marvel also shared more stills from the film, based on footage from the trailers and TV spot.
