Speaking to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2019\/film\/news\/gwyneth-paltrow-marvel-exit-1203142428\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Variety<\/a>, the actress confirmed her plan to retire from the MCU following \u201cEndgame,\u201d in which she\u2019ll once again reprise her role of Pepper Potts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, I\u2019m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,\u201d Paltrow said. \u201cI feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friend with [\u2018Iron Man\u2019 director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first \u2018Iron Man\u2019 and then to watch how important it has become to fans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paltrow starred as Pepper in the original \u201cIron Man,\u201d which launched the entire MCU in summer 2008. Pepper and Paltrow have gone on to appear in \u201cIron Man 2,\u201d \u201cIron Man 3,\u201d \u201cThe Avengers,\u201d \u201cSpider-Man: Homecoming,\u201d and \u201cAvengers: Endgame.\u201d If Pepper is planning on taking a back seat in the MCU after \u201cEndgame,\u201d then it stands to reason Tony Stark and Robert Downey Jr. will do the same should Iron Man survive the events of \u201cEndgame.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tony and Pepper were seen together at the start of \u201cInfinity War\u201d discussing the possibility of having a child together. Tony told Pepper he had a dream where they had a kid together and that it felt real, which led him to believe Pepper was pregnant in real life. The brief discussion has led to countless fan theories predicting Tony and Pepper\u2019s child will somehow factor into \u201cEndgame,\u201d which is rumored to feature a time-hopping narrative. Some fans believe \u201c13 Reasons Why\u201d star\u00a0Katherine Langford is playing the child as a teenager, although Langford\u2019s role has not been disclosed by Disney and Marvel.<\/p>\n<p>From the sound of it, Pepper is going to be alive and well when \u201cEndgame\u201d cuts to black. Paltrow told Variety that while she no longer wants to be committed to making Marvel movies, she is leaving the door open to a cameo in the future.\u00a0\u201cI feel honored to be a part of something that people are so passionate about,\u201d Paltrow said. \u201cOf course, if they said, \u2018Can you come back for a day?,\u2019 I will always be there if they need me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If Paltrow is up for another cameo, then it appears Pepper survives \u201cEndgame\u201d and the character more or less decides to stay away from Avengers life.
