The follow-up to the hugely successful 2013 NetherRealm Studios/Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment game was initially announced last summer with the introduction of Supergirl, with a second trailer introducing two new playable characters to the game: Suicide Squad‘s Harley Quinn and Deadshot. With this third glimpse, it’s time for the bad guys to get their due.

At the end of the new trailer, a mysterious figure is glimpsed. It is not identified — and remains mostly in shadow — but from the brief identifiers given, it would appear that alien collector of worlds, Brainiac will be coming to Earth in the new game, giving reason for the heroes to come together one more time…as long as they can stop fighting each other long enough to recognize the outside threat, of course.

That’s not all, however; in a post-credit sequence, gamers are invited to preorder Injustice 2 to gain access to a second cosmic danger: Darkseid, the ruler of alien planet Apokolips and teased big bad of the entire DC cinematic universe. Some days, it really doesn’t pay to try and be a good guy.

Injustice 2 will be released May 16 on PlayStation4 and Xbox One.
