Paramount has set up an untitled action comedy about FBI agents in a bogus marriage with Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick producing through their Gary Sanchez company.
The studio bought the pitch from Lauryn Kahn for a story about two FBI agents who go deep undercover as a married couple on a reality show about rich Los Angeles housewives. “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates” director Jake Szymanski is attached to helm.
Kahn and Szymanski will share story credit. Both are former employees at Gary Sanchez and its Funny or Die web site.
Szymanski made his directorial debut on Zac Efron comedy “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates,” which has grossed $35 million in less than two weeks. Gary Sanchez has set up Kahn’s comedy projects “He’s Fuckin Perfect” at Fox 2000 and “I’m in Love” with the DJ to Sony.
Paramount and Gary Sanchez have teamed on “Daddy’s Home” and “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” both which starred Ferrell, along with “Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters.”
McKay wrote and directed “The Big Short” for Paramount and won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay with co-writer Charles Randolph.
Kahn is repped by WME. Szymanski is repped by UTA and Mosaic. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
