Sony yesterday announced update for PlayStation Virtual Reality. Now, users can watch YouTube 360 videos on the virtual reality headset.
The PlayStation Virtual Reality which since its release has received excellent reviews. PlayStation Virtual Reality despite its good reviews has not been able to sell. PlayStation VR already has a large number of Virtual Reality games.
Now, Users can enjoy YouTube videos in Virtual Reality.
YouTube has a ever increasing number of 360 video. 360 video are best enjoyed while using a Virtual Reality headset. Other headsets like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive already support YouTube 360 video. Therefore, PlayStation VR is a little late to the party.
PS VR owners just need to update their app on their PlayStation. The users then can use the app and select the option “watch on PlayStation VR” to enjoy a fully immersive 360 video.
YouTube has a large number of 360 video’s. From riding a roller coaster to going scuba diving, you can experience anything at all! YouTube has videos where you can actually experience what it’s like to fly an airplane or more experience how it feels like to be a fighter pilot. There is a video where you can experience a flight with the Blue Angel’s. The Blue Angel’s are the United States flight demonstration squad.
Big companies like Discovery are producing 360 videos. The videos can also be watched on browser with help of a direction control pad the camera angles can be changed but for true experience a virtual reality headset is needed.
PlayStation has introduced this new update a little late because mostly all of its competitors have YouTube video compatibility. With a number of games including Batman already available for PlayStation VR and new games like Gran Turismo Sport and Tekken 7 coming out this year. This new update could push the sales of the Virtual Reality headset.
