Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, Bjork Contribute to Planned Parenthood Box Set

Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, Björk, St. Vincent, Sleater-Kinney, John Legend, Feist, Mary J. Blige and other notable musicians, comedians and spoken word artists will contribute new or rare/unreleased material to a project benefiting Planned Parenthood. The tracks will be released digitally in the coming weeks, followed by a compilation seven-inch vinyl box set.
In a hilarious promotional clip, Legend and St. Vincent’s Annie Clark croon Minnie Riperton’s timeless ballad “Lovin’ You” behind the piano. But Galifianakis, playing an irate producer, interrupts their soulful duet with some delusional “notes.” Other contributors include Common, Zach Galifianakis, Elliott Smith, Sarah Silverman, Laurie Anderson, Sharon Van Etten, Chvrches (with a visual directed by Kristen Stewart), Jon Brion and Aparna Nancherla.
“Being sexy matters. Looking good, getting clicks,” he tells the duo. The comedian suggests changing the vocal octave and alternating the song’s iconic “la”s, adds some discordant accordion and pleads with the singers to replace falsetto with “true-setto.”
“Lawmakers with extreme views are working hard to shut down Planned Parenthood,” explained the creative team behind 7-inches for Planned Parenthood. “If they succeed, millions of Americans will lose access to basic health services, including STD testing and treatment, birth control, and life-saving cancer screenings. 7-inches for Planned Parenthood is a response to this threat.”
Planned Parenthood will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from both streams and sales of the box set. The 7-inches team urges supporters to visit the I Stand With PP website to “find ways to get involved locally, contact their Senator and urge them to stand with Planned Parenthood, show their support for Planned Parenthood on social media using the hashtag #IStandWithPP and share how Planned Parenthood has helped you.”
