Gerard Depardieu and Santiago Segura will star in “You Only Live Once,” a comedy actioner produced by Spain’s Bowfinger International Pictures and Buenos Aires-based MyS Producción.

Argentine TV network Telefe, Cindy Teperman (“Almost Legends”) and Benteveo Producciones Audiovisuals co-produce along with DK Group, DirecTv, Quexito Films and A Contracorriente Films. The movie is currently shooting in Buenos Aires.

Disney’s Buena Vista Intl. has taken all Latin American rights; Vicente Canales’ Film Factory handles international sales.

“Once” marks the feature debut of veteran stunt coordinator and second-unit director Federico Cueva whose works include “Assassin’s Creed,” “Torrente 5,” and “The Secret in Their Eyes,” among others.

“This is a pretty-well unique movie for our countries; a high-stake action comedy combining huge stunts, laughs and romance,” Cueva said.

“Even the supporting roles are played by some of the biggest box-office draws in both Argentina and Spain,” Milli Roque Pitt at MyS Producción said. Producer María Luisa Gutiérrez, who partners Spanish thesp Segura at Bowfinger Int., said she she had lost track of the number of cars the production team had crashed over  the last weeks.

Producer Axel Kuschevatzky at Telefe commented: “’Once’ is a classic buddy movie, a throwback to films like Walter Hill’s ‘48 Hrs’ but with a contemporary twist.”

The Icaa Spanish film board and Argentina’s equivalent, the Incaa, Spanish pubcaster RTVE and Spanish pay TV company Movistar Plus are also backing “Once.”

“Once” is lensed by Guillermo Nieto (“Carancho,” “The Dog Pound”). Ferran Piquer (“Talk To Her,” “A Perfect Day”) will serve as VFX supervisor. “Once” will be released in 2017.
