Justin Bieber was the big winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards as he took home five awards.
He was no doubt overjoyed as he swept the board while taking home five of the six prizes he was nominated for at the ceremony, which was held at the iconic Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy.
The 21-year-old singer was feted with Best Male, Best Look, Best Worldwide Act: North America, Biggest Fans and Best Collaboration.
Justin made sure he stood out in head-to-toe red, as he sported a long-line T-shirt with matching jeans while adding a slightly-darker crimson baggy hoodie and white trainers to the look.
After storming the red carpet in his bright ensemble, Justin was the first big award to be announced of the night as he received the coveted prize of Best Male.
In his acceptance speech, Justin said: ‘Wow thank you it’s been a long couple of years. I just feel like this is pretty awesome to be recognised for my music. I want to thank my fans, my mum my dad, God and everyone, I love you, thank you.’
When the star came off-stage in a blaze of glory after receiving his first prize, host Ruby poked fun at the fact many people have said they look alike.
She joked with the singer, saying she tried to avoid wearing a matching outfit to him so they wouldn’t look like twins but she failed as they both wound up sporting red and white.
After collecting his first award, he took to the stage to perform his hit, What Do You Mean.
Host Ed Sheeran was hot on Justin’s heels as he was the second big winner of the night – taking home two prizes; Best Live Act and Best World Stage Award.
He seemed shocked with his first win as he was given the Best Live Act – no doubt a much-appreciated win as he has just released his first live concert film, Jumpers For Goalposts.
The audience were left laughing as Ed stepped on stage to collect his first gong and had no idea which award he had won out of his four nominations.
He said: ‘Sorry I missed all of that because I was having a conversation.. What award is this? Best live? Sound.’
Ed got lucky again when he won the Best World Stage Award – making him extremely busy as he was flitting his time between accepting awards and presenting the show.
Later in the night the two men of the moment, Ed and Justin, were seen palling up together – no doubt discussing their wins.
With a combined seven awards between them, the superstar duo had a lot to discuss.
Despite being up for a whopping nine awards, Taylor Swift was awarded only one as she took home Best Song for Bad Blood
The Style hitmaker was nominated for Best Song, Best Video and Best Collaboration for ‘Bad Blood’, her track with Kendrick Lamar, and Best Female, Best Pop and Best Live Act.
Nicki Minaj, who did not attend the show, was overjoyed to win the Best Hip Hop award.
Tennis ace Novak Djokovic looked dapper in a suit as he went to present the prize to the rapper, who had recorded an acceptance speech via video message.
She said: ‘Oh my gosh you guys, I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there in Milan tonight. I wish I was in Milan having some delicious spaghetti but I’m not, but love you.’
Rihanna did not attend the show although she won the Best Female Award while DJ Martin Garrix won Best Electronic Act.
For the Best Worldwide Act: Australia And New Zealand, 5 Seconds Of Summer were winners.
