Klavdia Returns to Greece After Eurovision Triumph

Greek singer Klavdia received a triumphant welcome at the Athens International Airport on Sunday night upon her return from Basel, Switzerland, where she finished in 6th place at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest—Greece’s best result in several years.

Fans, friends, and family gathered at the airport to greet Klavdia and her team, celebrating her powerful performance and charismatic stage presence that captivated audiences across Europe.

“This 6th place felt like a true victory to me,” Klavdia said in her first statements upon arrival. “I had been dreaming of 5th place, and we came so close. I’m incredibly happy and feel like a winner because of all the love and support I received.”

Visibly moved, she continued: “I’m really glad that you’re all so happy. It was unbelievable—we couldn’t believe what we were experiencing. The beginning of the process was a bit stressful, but in the end, we were so satisfied with the result that no matter what had happened, I think we would still feel the same joy.”

Klavdia also expressed heartfelt thanks to those who supported her journey.

She also took a moment to acknowledge the upcoming Pontian Genocide Remembrance Day on May 19, showing her awareness of the occasion: “I don’t know how things aligned like this… Tomorrow is a very heavy day for all of us, for the Pontian Greeks.”
