Ellie Goulding dishes on relationships with Niall Horan, Ed Sheeran

The Love Me Like You Do singer is putting rumors to rest about her supposed flings with fellow superstars Niall Horan of One Direction and English singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran.

In the latest issue of ELLE UK, Goulding admits to dating Horan, but denies rumors of ever being with Sheeran. She explains, “I did go on a few dates with Niall, but I was never in a relationship with Ed. I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing.”

Rumors about their coupling sparked last year when Sheeran’s song Don’t was believed to be about Goulding cheating on him with Horan. Sheeran told Howard Stern in an interview last September that he was wronged by his “mate,” but kept his mouth shut on whether or not it was Horan in order to not “add any fuel to any fire.”

So although Sheeran’s love triangle remains a mystery, we now know Goulding was not involved.

In the interview, Goulding also goes on to talk about how frustrating it is that female musicians are “constantly defined by the men they have or haven’t dated.” She adds, “It’s like, you can be a great artist, you can write great songs, but the thing that everyone is going to talk about is some relationship they think you have had or not had.”

This did not stop her, however, from talking about potential future hubby Dougie Poynter of McFly. She told ELLE UK that “‘He is definitely the one forever. He’s been through a lot, and he has a quiet depth that I love.”

So now that drama is hopefully settled between her, Horan, and Sheeran… Do we hear wedding bells for Goulding and Poynter in the near future? Maybe! Goulding spilled that Calvin Harris has already offered to play at their wedding. “Not that we’ve organized one” she explained, “but the offer has been made.”
