While Anticipated on All Platforms, iOS Gets the Advantage for Now
YouTube recently announced a range of new features exclusively for its Premium subscribers, including improved video quality with crystal-clear 1080p resolution. Surprisingly, these enhancements are currently available on iOS, despite Android being Google’s own operating system. Nevertheless, YouTube’s official blog reveals that these updates are just the beginning, promising more exciting features to come across all platforms in the near future.
YouTube has recently rolled out a new video quality option called ‘1080p Premium’ with an ‘Enhanced Bitrate’ that promises extra clarity and sharpness, especially in videos with intricate details and motion. However, this feature is currently only available on YouTube’s iOS and iPadOS apps, leaving Android users eagerly anticipating its arrival on the platform.
While Google has mentioned that ‘1080p Premium’ will soon be available on the web, there is no official information on when it will be introduced in YouTube’s Android app, including on popular devices like Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
In addition to the video quality update, Google also highlighted other features such as video queuing, resume from where you left off, and Smart Downloads. However, these features are not new and do not offer the same level of improvement in video quality as ‘1080p Premium.’ Android users who were eagerly awaiting higher quality 1080p video streams may need to wait a bit longer or consider using 4K resolution instead. Stay tuned for further updates on YouTube’s evolving features and enhancements.
