Sony’s patent drawings reveal that a new PlayStation mobile phone controller might come into play soon. Here’s what we know.
With December around the corner, the holiday season has officially begun. Millions of people are rushing to stores to grab their first consoles.
While there’s a lot of PS Plus free games coming in December, new images of a PlayStation mobile controller have come to the surface.
According to new sales data, PS5 recently outsold Nintendo Wii U. And it appears, a new patent filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment reveals the company’s plan to launch a PlayStation mobile phone controller.
SIE’s Japanese division issued the patent this week. It reveals a DualShock 4 like design, with two controller grips. And plenty of space to fit a mobile phone in the middle.
It isn’t evident from the drawing in the patent but the controller will include “a shaft portion that can be tilted by the user, and detect the tilting direction and tilting amount of the shaft portion.”
The era of cloud gaming is already here. And such a device would come in handy to play PlayStation games via PS Remote Play.
The mobile gaming industry has grown tremendously over the last few years, especially throughout Asia. The patent is right on time as Sony plans to bring popular PlayStation games to mobile devices.
The patent was filed as part of Sony’s ongoing push into the mobile gaming industry, as reported by VGC.
To top that, Sony is also bringing one of the most popular PlayStation games to PC.
Finally, if you are looking to buy a next-gen console, make sure to check out Walmart+ PS5 & Xbox Series X restock confirmed for Cyber Monday, Nov. 29.
