NGradio So good... like you
Beyonce turned her Lemonade visual album into 11 MTV Video Music Award nominations, a career-best for the pop superstar, it was announced Tuesday.
Adele scored the second-most nominations for the 2016 VMAs, with the British singer up for eight awards, including seven for the clip for her single “Hello.”
That video and Beyonce’s “Formation” clip will vie for video of the year honors with Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and Kanye West’s much-discussed “Famous” video, which is also up for best male video.
The video of the year nominees are the subject of a panoramic mural at the First Street Green Art Park in New York’s East Village, which was unveiled as part of Tuesday’s announcement. The mural was created by BD White, John Paul Ogrodnick (JPO), Damien Mitchell, Marc Evan, Resa, BKFoxx, Queen Andrea, Hektad, Giz, Such and Poem One.
Starting today, fans can vote for video of the year, best male video, best female video, breakthrough long form video and best new artist, presented by Taco Bell. Best new artist voting will remain live through the VMA pre-show, airing at 8 p.m. ET, with the top two artists revealed during the pre-show, kicking off a live hashtag vote before the winner is announced during the awards show. This year fans can also vote for the best new artist winner via Facebook Messenger, starting Aug. 15.
Nominees for socially voted category, best song of the summer, will be announced later.
The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from New York’s Madison Square Garden, a first, on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
