NGradio So good... like you
There’s something special about summer nights in Athens. The sea breeze from the Athenian Riviera, the warm air after sunset, thousands of people singing together under the lights and right in the middle of it all, Release Athens Festival returns for its 10th anniversary.
Running from June 13 to July 11, 2026, at Plateia Nerou and selected venues at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, the festival brings some of the biggest names in international music to Athens for nearly a month of unforgettable live performances.
Over the past decade, Release Athens has evolved into one of the most important summer music festivals in Southern Europe, attracting visitors from around the world who want to combine live music with the energy, nightlife, and atmosphere of the Greek summer.
One of the most talked-about moments of the festival will undoubtedly be the first-ever Greek appearance of Gorillaz on June 25. The iconic project led by Damon Albarn sold out almost immediately, proving just how anticipated this show truly is. Joining them are psychedelic alternative legends The Flaming Lips, making the night even more unforgettable for fans of experimental and alternative music.
Rock and metal fans also have plenty to look forward to. Limp Bizkit finally make their long-awaited Athens debut on June 15, alongside explosive post-punk group Viagra Boys. Meanwhile, legendary metal icons Pantera are set to deliver one of the heaviest and most nostalgic nights of the summer.
For a completely different atmosphere, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds return to Greece on June 24 for what promises to be an emotional and cinematic performance beneath the Athenian sky. Fans of classic alternative music will also have the opportunity to experience David Byrne live on June 21 at the beautiful SNFCC clearing, joined by Brooklyn synth-pop trio Nation of Language in their first-ever Greek appearance.
The festival’s diversity continues with legendary electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre bringing his spectacular audiovisual show to Athens on June 22, while Chris Isaak promises a romantic and atmospheric evening on June 13 with his timeless rock ’n’ roll sound.
What makes Release Athens stand out is not only its lineup, but the overall experience itself. Unlike many crowded urban festivals, this one combines international music culture with the relaxed feeling of the Greek coastline. Visitors can spend the day exploring Athens, swimming by the sea, discovering rooftop bars and local food spots, and then end the night watching world-class artists perform just steps away from the water.
For travelers visiting Greece in summer 2026, Release Athens is more than just a music festival — it’s a chance to experience modern Athens at its most vibrant, international, and alive.
More information, tickets, and the full lineup are available on the official Release Athens Festival website.
