Following the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the teaser trailer for the upcoming MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness leaks.

The teaser trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness leaked online.

While the source of the leak is currently unconfirmed, many suspect that the teaser is included as a post-credit scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The footage consists of Doctor Strange musing about the consequences of tampering with the fabric of the multiverse before revealing several familiar Marvel Cinematic Universe faces. The clips also line up with recent rumors that Gargantos would appear as a villain in Multiverse of Madness.

Little is currently known about Doctor Strange’s next blockbuster film. Rumors abound that it will directly deal with the aftermath of the spell cast in Spider-Man: No Way Home, forcing the Sorcerer Supreme to grapple with the concept of infinite parallel universes. Reports insist that Scarlet Witch will play a significant role in the movie as she comes to terms with her newfound abilities established in the conclusion of WandaVision. Several merchandise leaks also suggest that Doctor Strange will be joined by America Chavez, also known by the name Miss America, who is pulled into his dimension via a portal through space and time.

Speaking to the production of Multiverse of Madness, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said, “It’s absolutely surreal to be working on a Doctor Strange movie with Sam Raimi in one part of the office, and then working on a Spider-Man movie with Jon Watts and Alfred Molina as Doc Ock in another room,” Feige said. “That has been a mind-blowing part of the last 10 years of my life.”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see celebrated director Sam Raimi return to the superhero genre. When asked what about the film drew him back after the tumultuous production of Spider-Man 3, Raimi said, “The Internet was getting revved up and people disliked that movie and they sure let me know about it. So, it was difficult to take back on.” He goes on to say, “But then, I found out that there was an opening on Doctor Strange 2. My agent called me and said, ‘They’re looking for a director at Marvel for this movie and your name came up. Would you be interested?’ And I thought, ‘I wonder if I could still do it.’ They’re really demanding, those types of pictures. And I felt, ‘Well, that’s reason enough.'”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arrives in theatres on May 6, 2022.
