You might’ve thought “Narcos” would come to an end after the (spoiler alert) downfall of its main villain, Pablo Escobar (Wagner de Moura). But nope. Netflix is officially addicted.
Though Season 2 was just released, the streaming service has already renewed the show for a third and fourth season, even releasing a teaser video for Season 3.
”Narcos” was good in Season 1. It was the highest-rated new show on IMDb last year and snagged some Golden Globe nominations, too, but Season 2 took it to a new high. Rather than cram years of Escobar’s story into only 10 episodes, Season 2 focused on the hunt to take the drug kingpin down, and reviews have been glowing.
A renewal seems like a no-brainer for Netflix, but where does the show go from here?
Eric Newman, the show’s executive producer, told Entertainment Weekly that “there’s a lot of story left to be told in Colombia,” and that the show has “always been about cocaine,” not Escobar.
As teased in the Season 2 finale, it appears Season 3 will focus on DEA agent Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) going after Colombia’s Cali Cartel. As long as Peña doesn’t pull an Oberyn and get killed in some stupid way, we’re in.
The only thing he hates more than Lannisters is cocaine.
