Though the app is free, it’s been noted that YouTube plans to use the app to draw people in with lots of free music content in hopes of steering users to its also recently launched $10 per month subscription service, YouTubeRed.

Unlike competitors such as Apple Music, Google Play, or Spotify, YouTube Music will be geared towards letting users discover new music. Whenever a user pulls up a song, the app automatically creates a play list around said song from its database of over 30 million songs in addition to live versions and even remakes by fans.

“With YouTube Music, you’ll get a completely new type of experience, designed to make discovering music on YouTube easier than ever,” said YouTube exec T. Jay Fowler. “No matter where you start in the app, the music will never stop.”

YouTubeMusic officially launched this past Thursday (Nov. 12) and is available via free download for both Apple iOS and Android users, though it is only currently available in the U.S.
