BTS Blasts Back to No. 1 on Artist 100 Chart, Thanks to ‘Map of the Soul: 7’

Superstar South Korean pop septet BTS returns to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated March 7) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for a sixth total week, and for the first time since May 25, 2019, thanks to the group’s new album, Map of the Soul: 7.

The set launches at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 422,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, the biggest week of the year so far, and the top total since Harry Styles’ Fine Line (478,000) on the chart dated Dec. 28.

BTS also debuts three songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “On” soars in at No. 6, becoming the group’s third top 10 and highest-charting entry, as well as the first top five Hot 100 hit for a K-pop group. Fellow songs from the new set “My Time” and “Filter” bow at Nos. 84 and 87, respectively.

With its sixth week atop the Artist 100, BTS extends its record for the most time on top among duos/groups. Taylor Swift holds the overall mark with 37 weeks at No. 1 (dating to the chart’s 2014 inception).

Among other Artist 100 chart moves, Ozzy Osbourne debuts at No. 5, as his new LP Ordinary Man opens at No. 1 on Top Rock Albums and No. 3 on the Billboard 200 (77,000 units).
