Το ‘The Way I Am’ είναι το τέταρτο single του Aki Rei από τον επερχόμενο self titled δίσκο του ‘ΑKI REI’, ο οποίος πρόκειται να κυκλοφορήσει αυτό το καλοκαίρι από την Mellowsophy Music. Αυτήν την φορά, ο Αki επιχειρεί τη σύνδεση ενός 70s retro funk culture με τον κόσμο της indie rock, δίνοντάς μας έναν σκληρότερο ήχο από αυτόν που έχουμε συνηθίσει στις έως τώρα κυκλοφορίες του.
Το τραγούδι αναφέρεται στην εσωτερική αναζήτηση που προβαίνει καποι@ ώστε να καταλάβει το ποι@ είναι και να προσπαθήσει να αγκαλιάσει κάθε πτυχή του εαυτού και να την εξελίξει. Ο σκοπός του κομματιού είναι να εμπνεύσει τον εκάστοτε ακροατή να φωνάζει με σιγουριά ‘’That’s the way I am’’, με απότερο φινάλε την εξ’ ολοκλήρου αποδοχή του εσωτερικού «είναι».
